Secure, Track and Manage

Smartag Solutions Bhd. Asset Management solutions provide accurate, real-time information about the location and status of organization and personnel assets, in order to operate efficiently and to effectively safeguard against operational risks.

RFID technology can be utilised to track any item be it movement from area to area or used to identify the specific location of an item or person. Tracking and locating assets may be a security or a health and safety issue.

Asset Management System is a comprehensive system having three distinctive components; namely Personnel, Asset and Security. Each of the three components are developed to work independently as three separate systems, or integrated to work as a single system, depending on the needs of the organization.

Asset Tracking

At its most basic the Asset Management System can be used by corporations to keep track of their physical assets i.e. furniture, equipment and other fixed company assets. Managers can also keep track of movement of fixed assets that are transferred between branch offices, for example. The Asset Management System is linked to a RFID printer whereby barcodes can be printed on the RFID tags. Individual items would be labelled with RFID tags. Tag information will then be captured by the Handheld RFID Reader. Simultaneously, the Handheld RFID Reader serves the purpose to store, verify or update the tags detected to the server.

For a more secure system, fixed readers at entry points to the office / building would scan for the tags, and any unauthorized removal of assets from its premises will be detected, trigger the alarm and lock the exit gate preventing the assets being removed without proper authorization.

Personnel Tracking / Access Control

HR department heads can keep track of all Personnel movement within the office by issuing each staff with an RFID Staff ID card. RFID readers can be installed at the various entry and exits points and can be integrated with door control systems to enable or restrict access to various locations in the building, ensuring only authorised staff are allowed to be in restricted areas. It can also be integrated to record staff attendance, helping to increase productivity.

Event Management

RFID personnel tracking can be used to manage entrance to public events or conferences. Keeping track of all the delegates at a conference will be a daunting task. However, RFID technology can be incorporated in the tickets or passes to public events. The passes will be scanned at entry to verify the bearers identity and grant access. This will also help to prevent fraud or counterfeiting of tickets.

In an event like a conference, RFID tags can be input with a delegates contact details. Exhibitors can then gain valuable information about the attendees via the RFID tags.

Healthcare

In the field of healthcare, the time taken to locate a critical piece of equipment could mean the difference between life and death. RFID technology can be used to tag and identify key items of medical equipment, enabling doctors and nurses to save time in locating them during an emergency.

Similarly, patients can be given medical bracelets equipped with RFID tags in order to quickly locate them and provide better bedside care. The RFID tags can store critical medical information about patients like allergies.

Oil and Gas Industry

Traditionally it has been very hard to keep track of assets in the oil and gas industry due to the fact that some assets are hard to tag and even harder to track due to physical size or location. RFID technology can be used to track and locate important assets throughout the supply chain. Specialised tags utilising active and passive RFID have been developed to be used in such challenging environments. They help improve the operational efficiency and keep costs low.

Livestock

With the boom in global economy it is increasingly important to know the origin of raw materials, particularly in the food industry. Diseases may be accidentally spread via importing or exporting of animals. RFID technology can be used to tag livestock and provide an accurate way of monitoring specific information about the animals such as date of birth, inoculation records, breeding specifics and more. This can also ensure that the particular animal conforms to Halal standards for example.
